Alaska pics!

The following pic is a typical view from the train on our way from Anchorage to Denali National Park. It was an 8-hour train ride but the scenery was so amazing that it never seemed that long. (Several Alaska Amber beers didn't hurt either. :-))

The following is another pic from the train. I loved how the one cloud was diagonal in front of the mountain:

I think the coolest part of our entire trip was our flightseeing tour with a glacier landing. The following is a typical view from the plane before we started going over the ice and snow covered mountains:

Once we got to the ice and snow parts, we flew over views like the following for about half an hour. It never got old:

There were quite a few glaciers along the way like the following pic:

The following 3 pics are of Mt. McKinley, the highest point in North America and amazing to see in person. This is apparently the coldest and wettest summer in the area for quite some time, if not ever, so the only time it cleared up enough to see Mt. McKinley was when we went flightseeing. We talked to one guy who'd been there three weeks and he still hadn't seen it once. (The last pic of these three is now my computer desktop picture.)

I love the different colors and shading in the following scene:

This was a typical view from inside the park on the rainy and overcast shuttle tour we did. (Private cars are not allowed inside the park so if you want to get inside the park you have to take a shuttle or tour bus.)

It rained most of our tour but when it cleared up for about an hour we saw a couple grizzly bears, a ton of caribou, a ton of Dall sheep, and a ton of foxes. The fox in the pic below went right by our bus, but unfortunately the other animals were too far away for a good picture.

Garth Brooks at the hockey All-Star game

He was like 10 feet from us, very cool. In real life he's just as chubby as he looks on tv and is quite balding when he takes his hat off. (That's probably why he wears it.)

Probably my 1 and only post

Move along now, there's nothing to see here...
